Shiatsu is a form of acupressure based on the same principles as acupuncture, but uses human touch, the most instinctive form of healing. This style of bodywork treats pressure points in the meridian channels, blockages in circulation and energy are released.
The body begins to rest and relax and enter the parasympathetic state of consciousness, which allows the body to cleanse and repair itself, healing from the inside out. Shiatsu can be very helpful for postural and musculoskeletal problems and stress related conditions. Gentle body stretches and massage are incorporated while treating the meridians.
Shiatsu is performed on a 2’’ futon mat with body cushion. The recipient should wear loose comfortable clothing and socks. Suggested duration: 75 minutes.
